Spurs’ hearts intent on move

By | 25th January 2011

Although Tottenham Hotspur supporters have made their presence felt by maintaining an excellent atmosphere at White Hart Lane throughout the season, chairman Daniel Levy is adamant that the club needs a bigger stadium to continue its development.

The Spurs have been criticized for seeking a move away from North London as they have been competing with West Ham United for the Olympic Stadium in Stratford.

However, according to Levy, the idea behind the move is to take a big step in pushing Tottenham towards Europe’s elite – an initiative that will be backed by the Spurs faithful even if it means relocation.

Furthermore, the magnitude of the initiative extends well beyond moving to the Olympic Stadium as he will pursue any opportunity that promises to serve the interests of the club.

“We need a bigger stadium. It is one of those emotive items that if we had a choice we would rather stay here and have fantastic transport links,” Levy stated in an interview with Sky Sports News.

He elaborated: “But what is clear is that for this club to compete at the highest level in the Premier League and Europe, we need a larger stadium and if that means moving out of the area, I am sure the fans will back us.

“The problem with the current situation at White Hart Lane is that the project is not viable and it will mean going back to the drawing board and considering other locations.”

The Spurs are enjoying a successful season at the highest level as they dominated their Champions League group while also ensuring that their domestic results are good enough to keep them poised for a return to Europe’s biggest club competition next season.

Stratford Hotspur hasn’t got the right sound has it?

  2. Emanuel says:

Spurs must stay in North London;otherwise Arsenal will be sole heirs to this area.

  3. park lane says:

    Are you having a laugh?
Potters Bar and Cheshunt have shit transport links.
As if planning permission is gonna be given for 30 odd thousand cars to travel to an area no matter where it is.
If we relocate we should be looking for a site near Tottenham Hale station.
There’s lots of industrial estates round there and many units must be empty the way business is and we can still proudly call ourselves Tottenham Hotspur.

Moving is a must, All we are unhappy about is the idea of going to EAST london. Somwhere else is fine. Ive heard a rumour that potters bar or cheshunt have been earmarked. great motorway and rail connections, as well as near the new training ground…and levy lives just 10 mins away lol
