Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has admitted that he’s disappointed by the club’s 0-0 draw against Spanish side Real Sociedad yesterday, and is left ruing two missed opportunities from strikers Robin van Persie and Javier Hernandez. The pair each had a golden opportunity during the second half of United’s fourth Champions League match of the season, with Chicharito missing from six yards out while Robin van Persie cannoned his penalty off the post.
Giggs put in another solid performance after earning a start against the Spaniards, but couldn’t help the Red Devils take home all three points to end their poor run of results in Spain.
Few people would have gambled on van Persie and Hernandez missing their chances, as Giggs points out, but those punters may now be looking for a list of online gambling reviews to grab some winnings in Premier League play this weekend.
“It was a good performance and I was just disappointed we didn’t get the three points, we had the chances and on another day we would have won the game,” Giggs told Sky Sports after the match.
“It happens, you probably don’t see Robin and Chicharito miss two chances like that in a game, but it happens, they are two great goalscorers, on another day they go in and we win the game.”
Despite the draw, the Red Devils have found themselves rapidly improving in recent weeks, and will face another big test this Sunday when they play host to league leaders Arsenal. David Moyes has brought his side into the top half of the table in recent weeks, and a win could propel them as high as second place depending on results elsewhere around the league.
