Arsenal right-back Carl Jenkinson spoke out to praise in-form midfielder Aaron Ramsey on Friday, calling him one of the best midfielders in the world at the moment. The Arsenal defender remarked that Ramsey has been tremendous for the club this year but has always thought he was a terrific player.

“Talking about Aaron Ramsey I’ve always thought he was a great player but he’s been absolutely exceptional this year,” Jenkinson told talkSPORT.

“He is probably the most in-form midfielder in the world. I don’t think there is anyone better than him at the moment. It’s fantastic for him and for the team as well.”

Ramsey has been sensational for Arsenal in the early part of the season. The midfielder has already scored six goals in only seven appearances for the club, exceeding his career-best. Ramsey has also been strong defensively, especially during the 2-1 Champions League victory over French side Marseille on Wednesday night. The Welshman made a number of important tackles and helped secure a hard-fought win for the Gunners.

It hasn’t always been easy for Ramsey, however, as the midfielder went down for nearly a year from a strong challenge by Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross in 2010. Ramsey had not been in the best form leading up to this year because of the injury but seemed to finally get over it this summer as he has really exploded onto the scene this season, silencing doubters for the time-being. Ramsey will see Shawcross once again on Sunday when the Gunners take on Stoke City at the Emirates.
