Manchester United have announced on their official website,¬†ManUtd.com, that promising midfielder Jesse Lingard has completed a one month loan move to Championship side Birmingham City. Lingard was a big part of new manager David Moyes’ preseason tour of Asia, leading the goalscoring chart during the club’s tour of the Far East.

Lingard will now have the opportunity to impress with first team football with Birmingham City, as the club is desperate for talented players. Birmingham manager Lee Clark finds his side sitting in 21st in the Championship table with just four points from seven matches. Lingard’s Blues find themselves in the thick of an early season relegation battle against Doncaster Rovers, who have also recently picked up a Manchester United reserves player in Federico Macheda.

Lingard’s loan move is only for one month – meaning he will be eligible to play for the Blues until the 20th of October, at which point he will return to Old Trafford. The midfielder recently made his debut for the England under-21 side, so has seen his stock rise since scoring four goals during the club’s preseason tour.

Lingard’s debut might come this weekend when Birmingham City play host to Sheffield Wednesday.
