Everton manager Roberto Martinez revealed that new striker Romelu Lukaku is fit and ready to make his debut for the Toffees in one of their upcoming matches. Lukaku left Chelsea to sign a season-long loan deal with Everton in the closing hours of the summer transfer window and could not feature when the Toffees defeated the Blues 1-0 over the weekend, their first win of the year after three successive draws.

“Romelu is ready to be available,” Martinez told Goal.com. ”He’s played a lot of football this season and he’s got used to his team-mates in the past week and trained very well.”

“I was really pleased with the level on Saturday [against Chelsea]. Now we have to use all our options in the squad and be as strong as we can. We’ve got three games in a short space of time, so we need everyone ready and available.”

Everton will play West Ham on Saturday in the Premier League before heading to Craven Cottage to play Fulham in the Capital One Cup next Tuesday.

Lukaku was reportedly close to returning to West Brom this summer before signing with Everton. Lukaku spent last year on loan with West Brom where he caught the attention of many managers after scoring 17 league goals in 35 appearances for the Baggies. Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho returned to the club this summer and sent the 20 year old Belgian forward away on loan for another year, leaving the club with Samuel Eto’o, Fernando Torres, and Demba Ba as the striking options for the Portuguese boss.

Chelsea have now suffered back to back losses after the defeat to Everton last weekend and a 2-1 loss to Swiss club FC Basel in the Champions League on Wednesday.
