United midfielder targeted by Serie A champions

Juventus are reportedly interested in Anderson

By | 18th September 2013

According to talkSPORT, Italian Serie A champions Juventus are interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Anderson. According to the report, the Italian club was considering a move for the Brazilian midfielder during this summer’s transfer window, even enquiring about the player’s availability. The report suggests that Juventus will now save their official approach for the former Porto player for the summer of 2014, when his contract has just twelve months to run.

Anderson has seen himself drop down United’s midfield pecking order following the arrival of Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini on transfer deadline day. The former Everton player arrived at Old Trafford in a £27.5 million deal and has already been inserted into David Moyes’ starting eleven alongside Michael Carrick. Anderson is now fighting with fellow midfielder Tom Cleverley for playing time behind the two starters, with Darren Fletcher still recovering from a long-term injury.

The Brazilian started in only nine of United’s Premier League fixtures last season, coming off the bench in another eight matches. He scored just one goal, highlighting United supporters’ biggest issue with his play since signing for the club in 2007: his final ball.

If Anderson does trade Old Trafford for the Juventus Stadium he would be joining up with former United teammate Paul Pogba, who has been a revelation since moving to Italy.
