Manchester City’s Jack Rodwell and Vincent Kompany have issued high praise for City’s traveling support following last night’s 3-0 win over Czech Republic champions Viktoria Plzeň. Rodwell was an unused substitute once again for the Citizens, while club captain Vincent Kompany made his long-awaited return from injury, but both players were quick to tweet their praise for the traveling supporters.

Vincent Kompany’s tweet also made it clear that the players have already turned their attention to this Sunday’s Manchester derby against cross-town rivals United. Both clubs are still trying to find their feet under new managers, but both new managers enjoyed convincing wins last night in their maiden Champions League matches for the Manchester clubs. David Moyes’ United side won 4-2 at home against Bayer Leverkusen, so both sides are in good form going into Sunday’s match.

City have also been given a major boost with the return of Vincent Kompany, who is widely expected to start the derby match. For United, new signing Marouane Fellaini made his first start for the Red Devils last night and could partner Michael Carrick in midfield once again on Sunday.

The win put City at the top of Group D in the Champions League, tied on points and goals with defending champions Bayern Munich, who beat CSKA Moscow.
