chelsea 9-18-13New Chelsea summer signing Willian is set to make his debut for the Blues today in their Champions League match against FC Basel. Willian arrived from Russian side Anzhi during the final days of the transfer window for a fee of £32 million but has yet to make an appearance for the club since signing in August. Willian will start as the right attacking midfielder for Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea in front of the crowd at Stamford Bridge.

New signing Marco van Ginkel also received a start for Mourinho today as he will likely begin the game on the left side of Frank Lampard in the center of the pitch. van Ginkel arrived from Dutch side Vitesse early in the summer for a fee of £8 million and has made two appearances for the Blues this season, coming on as a substitute in both instances.

Chelsea will be looking for a strong start to their 2013/2014 Champions League campaign after winning the competition for the first time in club history in 2012. The Blues crashed out of last season’s competition in the group stages under Rafa Benitez, earning them a spot in the Europa League, which they went on to win.
