Kagawa, Fellaini in starting eleven

Shinji Kagawa and Marouane Fellaini will both start tonight

By | 17th September 2013

Manchester United manager David Moyes has named both Shinji Kagawa and new signing Marouane Fellaini in his starting eleven for tonight’s Champions League match against Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen. The match is the Scot’s first Champions League match with United, and supporters will be delighted to see what is close to United’s full-strength eleven turn out at Old Trafford tonight.

Supporters have been clamoring for Kagawa to get more playing time with the club this season following his move from Borussia Dortmund a year ago, while their¬†¬£27.5 million signing Marouane Fellaini makes his first start. The Belgian came off the bench during Saturday’s 2-0 win over Crystal Palace and was largely impressive, but he will now have 90 minutes to impress alongside Michael Carrick.

Chris Smalling also makes his return from injury and replaces Fabio at the right back position in a mostly unchanged side. Wayne Rooney will partner Robin van Persie up front after both strikers were on the scoresheet against Crystal Palace this weekend.

Mexican striker Javier Hernandez has also earned a spot on the bench and will be hoping to get an opportunity as a substitute. Anders Lindegaard, Jonny Evans, Fabio, Anderson, Ashley Young, and Tom Cleverley round out the bench.
