English newspaper The Daily Express reports that Premier League runners-up Manchester City are keen on stealing one of their closest rivals’ youngest stars, Manchester United’s Adnan Januzaj. The 18 year old midfielder made his Premier League debut for David Moyes’ United side on Saturday against Crystal Palace, and drew praise from players and pundits alike for his brief cameo. Januzaj’s dazzling footwork and direct attacking philosophy largely overshadowed the impressive debut of fellow Belgian Marouane Fellaini, but with his contract set to expire next summer reports link him with a move to Manchester City.

The Belgian impressed new manager David Moyes during the club’s preseason tour of Asia and Australia, and now finds himself regularly training with the club’s first team. After proving himself in the club’s youth academy and reserves squad, Sir Alex Ferguson named Januzaj to the bench in the Scot’s last ever match as manager. United supporters will now be hoping Moyes and new chief executive Ed Woodward can sort a new contract out for the midfielder in order to avoid a repeat of Paul Pogba’s controversial exit from Old Trafford one year ago.

Pogba was once viewed as United’s most promising youngster, but after extremely limited first team action under Sir Alex Ferguson the French midfielder left the club on a free transfer to Serie A champions Juventus. With Januzaj also knocking on the door, the Daily Express reports that City are interested in securing his signature, but will undoubtedly face stiff competition from the Red Devils as they line up a new offer.

Is Januzaj good enough to make it at United? Have your say below!
