Manchester United are hoping to add a second signing to their total this summer but are waiting on news regarding a season-long loan move for Real Madrid left-back Fabio Coentrao, according to the Daily MailThe two clubs reportedly agreed on a deal for the player but may not have gotten the paperwork completed and submitted in time for the deal to go through.

An announcement was made by La Liga regarding the confirmation of the Coentrao deal but it was later retracted.

Manchester United did finally add Maraouane Fellaini after weeks of speculation that the Belgian midfielder would leave Everton to reunite with David Moyes, his manager of five years. The 25 year old, who was linked with a move to Arsenal earlier this summer, was shipped over for £27.5 million on Monday to a United side that has been linked to a number of midfielders throughout the summer, including Cesc Fabregas.

Moyes was also trying to secure Everton left-back Leighton Baines over the last few weeks, having two joint bids for Fellaini and Baines rejected with the second estimated at £36 million. Coentrao is thought to be the backup plan for Baines after United’s latest £15 million bid for the player flopped.
