English media outlet The Telegraph is reporting that Newcastle United have submitted a bid for French starlet Florian Thauvin. Thauvin currently plies his trade for Ligue 1 side Lille, but according to the report has been tracked by Newcastle boss Alan Pardew for several seasons.

The club have made a bid of more than £10 million for the 20 year old, and would be joining a long list of French internationals at St. James’ Park. Yohan Cabaye is one of the most influential players at the club, but it could be his departure that sparks the arrival of Lille’s most prized young player.

Cabaye has been the subject of a £10 million offer from Champions League side Arsenal, although the Magpies have insisted that it would take a bid of double that amount to secure his services. Cabaye has been sensational for the Magpies since arriving in England in 2011, scoring six Premier League goals for the club during last season.

Thauvin, meanwhile, is currently a youth international for France, most recently turning out for the under-20 side.
