Clubs line up for Chelsea striker

Roma, Newcastle, and West Ham line up for Demba Ba

talkSPORT is reporting that at least three clubs are lining up for out of favor Chelsea striker Demba Ba. The Senegalese international finds himself far down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, and today’s unveiling of international superstar Samuel Eto’o has only pushed him further back.

According to the talkSPORT report, Premier League clubs Newcastle United and West Ham United are both keen on bringing the player back to their clubs, while Serie A club Roma have also joined the race. Roma are finding themselves searching for replacements for the recently departed Erik Lamela, while Newcastle have been searching for a striker all summer. West Ham, meanwhile, may view the player as an ideal strike partner for former Liverpool ace Andy Carroll following his permanent move to Upton Park this summer.

Ba currently competes with the newly arrived Eto’o, the misfiring Fernando Torres, and an emerging Romelu Lukaku for playing time at the Blues, so may be hoping to secure a move away from the club before Monday’s transfer deadline.
