Sky Sports is reporting that their sources have indicated Newcastle United are interested in bringing striker Demba Ba back to St. James’ Park. Ba has had a less than enjoyable time at Chelsea since joining the club in January, failing to even make the bench in Monday’s match against Manchester United.

Ba has scored just two Premier League goals for Chelsea in 15 appearances, showing his severe drop in form since making the move from Newcastle. The Senegalese international scored a stunning 13 league goals for the Magpies in his final five months at the club before his January move, but now finds himself behind Fernando Torres and Romelu Lukaku in the Stamford Bridge pecking order.

Newcastle, meanwhile, have been looking for a strike partner for Papiss Cisse, but have only succeeded in bringing in Queens Park Rangers striker Loic Remy on a season long loan. The Magpies are still looking for their first win of the season following a humiliating opening day 4-0 loss to Manchester City, which was followed up by a scoreless draw at home against West Ham United this past weekend.

If a move is to happen, Newcastle have just days to seal the deal as the transfer window closes on September 2nd.
