According to a Metro report, Tottenham have agreed to a £31 million deal with Serie A club Roma for winger Erik Lamela. Spurs are apparently interested in the 21-year-old winger as a replacement for Gareth Bale, who is likely to join Spanish giants Real Madrid in the coming days.

Spurs had been rumored to be interested in the Argentinian international, but have now agreed to a fee with the Italian side, and he will likely join the north London outfit. According to the Metro report, Tottenham have also agreed to personal terms with the attacker, and will likely see the 21-year-old sign a five-year contract with the club.

The 21-year-old winger started his career with Argentinian club River Plate, staying with the club for two seasons after breaking through to the club’s first team in 2009. The attacker was sold to the Serie A club in the summer 2011 though, with the Italian side paying a €12 million, plus €2 million in bonuses, which was activated after his 20th appearance for the Italian outfit.

The winger was viewed as one of the top Roma attackers last season, scoring 15 times for the club in 33 league appearances, only finishing behind newly-signed striker Pablo Osvaldo, who moved to Premier League side Southampton earlier this week. Osvaldo netted 16 times for the Italian club last season.
