According to Goal.com, Arsenal have been dealt a blow as Juventus have issued a hands off warning over midfielder Paul Pogba. The report states that the Gunners were interested in the French midfielder, but Juventus have now unequivocally stated the the former Manchester United reserves player is not for sale this summer.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is guilty of not adequately replacing imposing central midfielder Patrick Vieira since the Frenchman’s departure in 2005, and Pogba has been likened to the giant midfielder throughout his career. Pogba has been sensational for the Serie A champions since moving to Italy from Old Trafford, combining goals with power and aggressive midfield play alongside Andrea Pirlo.

“Forget about Pogba,” Marotta told Italian media outlet Tuttosport, as translated by Goal.com.

“We do not have the slightest intention of listening to any offer which may arrive for our midfielder.”

Arsenal have been unable to significantly strengthen their squad this summer, having only brought in young French striker Yaya Sanogo on a free transfer. The Arsenal faithful expressed their disappointment and frustration with Arsene Wenger during the club’s opening day 3-1 defeat at the hands of Aston Villa, calling for the long-serving manager to start spending some of the club’s transfer kitty on new players.

With the club now warned off of Pogba and Monday’s failed bid for Newcastle United Yohan Cabaye, Arsene Wenger will have to move quickly to find a new target before the transfer window slams shut on September 2nd.
