Roma chase United star after Osvaldo sale

The Daily Star reports that Roma are interested in signing Nani

By | 20th August 2013

Serie A side Roma are reportedly readying a bid for Manchester United winger Nani, who is apparently Roma boss Rudi Garcia’s main target, according to the Daily Star. The Italian side sold striker Pablo Osvaldo to English side Southampton over the weekend, and will reportedly use those funds to chase the 26-year-old winger, who has been linked with an exit from Old Trafford this summer.

The Portuguese international has been extremely up and down for United ever since joining the club from Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon, and could end up with limited playing this summer under manager David Moyes, who appears to prefer youngster Wilfried Zaha over the 26-year-old.

Nani has already been linked with moves to PSG and Monaco this summer, and could wind up joining former Arsenal winger Gervinho in Italy, who signed with Roma earlier this month in a £7 million move. United are reportedly looking for an £8.5 million fee for the winger however, but the £15 million the club received for Osvaldo will likely be a major help for the Italian side, who are tipped to step up their pursuit for the attacker now that the Italian striker has left the club, according to a Daily Star report.

The Portuguese winger has appeared in 133 league matches since his switch to the Premier League in 2007, scoring 26 times for United, but was only able to grab two goals for the Red Devils last season.
