Arsenal, who have yet to purchase a single player this summer, have been linked with a £35 million double swoop for Swansea pair Michu and Ashley Williams as the Gunners look to improve their striking and defense in one fell-swoop, according to The Independent. The Gunners have been linked with a move for Williams since the start of the summer, but have only recently been linked to a move for the 27-year-old Spanish attacker.

The north London outfit have constantly looked to improve their attack force this summer, and may turn their attention to Michu, who became a Premier League surprise last season as he netted 18 times for Swansea, and could make a move with only Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski up top for last season’s fourth place finishers, according to the report.

Williams was given the Swansea captain’s armband earlier this summer, and has become a major part of the Swansea set up, with the 28-year-old appearing in 218 Premier League matches since joining the club in 2008 from Stockport County. The center back has also become the captain of the Welsh national team, after becoming a fixture in the national team since his move to Swansea.

The Gunners have only added free transfer Yaya Sanogo this summer, and look to spend some of their rumored £70 million transfer kitty after the London-based club were stunned by Aston Villa 3-1 on Saturday at the Emirates, with fans outraged at the result.
