Fulham confirm Parker transfer

Fulham have unveiled new signing Scott Parker

By | 19th August 2013

Fulham have completed a deal for England international Scott Parker in a move reportedly worth £2 million. The 32 year old penned a three year contract with the Cottagers and becomes Fuham’s sixth signing of the summer.

Parker had been widely tipped to join Queens Park Rangers this window with Harry Redknapp stating a deal had been agreed between them and Tottenham Hotspur, but Fulham have beaten their fellow Londoners to the punch, and Parker will be playing his football in the Premier League instead.

“I’m delighted to be joining Fulham and I’m looking forward to meeting my new teammates at training tomorrow morning,” Parker said on Fulham’s official website. “Fulham is an established Premier League club and I look forward to trying to help the team progress even further over the next three years.”

New owner Shahid Khan completed his takeover of Fulham last month and manager Martin Jol expressed his delight at Parker’s decision to join their revolution.

“I’m delighted that Scott has joined us,” said the Dutch manager, according to the club’s official website. “He’s a midfielder who works tirelessly for his team and is a fantastic player both on and off the ball.”

Last season Parker was stricken by injuries and after numerous additions and recruitment’s  at White Hart Line, competition would have led to less playing time.

Parker has been capped 18 times by England and was an integral part of Roy Hodgson’s  Euro 2012 campaign where England lost in the quarterfinals to Italy on penalties. Parker has now played fora total of five London clubs: Charlton, West Ham, Chelsea, Spurs, and now Fulham.
