Arsenal set to bid £49 million for Suarez

Wenger is ready to break the Arsenal transfer record

English media outlet Metro is reporting that Arsenal are preparing to increase their previous offer for Liverpool forward Luis Suarez to £49 million, after seeing bids of £25 million and £40 million plus £1 rejected by the Reds.

Having only secured one signing this summer in young striker Yaya Sanogo, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger remains intent on making Suarez the club’s most expensive transfer ever by tempting the Merseyside outfit with an offer similar to the £50 million fee Chelsea payed for Fernando Torres back in 2011.

In a bid to end the current back-and-forth speculation between the two clubs, it is reported that Arsenal are set to offer the £49 million up front, with the hopes of persuading the Reds to finally sell the player who last season scored an impressive 30 goals in 44 appearances.

However, Liverpool owner John Henry and manager Brendan Rodgers are insisting the player is not for sale and will not be in the near future, with the Uruguayan international set for crunch talks with Rodgers regarding his current situation with the club.

“We are not going to sell Luis. It’s very important [not to sell to a rival], but especially for Liverpool because we’re not in Europe this year,” Henry told the BBC.

Gunners set to miss out on Luis Gustavo

Arsenal transfer target Luiz Gustavo looks set to join Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg after the German side agreed to a transfer with Gustavo’s current club Bayern Munich. Gunner fans were hopeful of securing Gustavo’s signature after Gustavo revealed he would like to play for Arsenal.

Wolfsburg are now looking to finalize the deal before the weekend as the club already off to a disappointing start in the Bundesliga, losing 2-0 to Hannover last weekend.

SUAREZ has arleady denied the fact that he has said he needs to remain at lvf but insisted that he realy want to move to the big clkub like Arsenal this summer.

  6. Johnny Starrs says:

£49 mill wont get him, Why don't they try £50+£1.
Suarez has finally realised he wont be sold this year, and promptly issues an "I want to stay" knowing he has NO CHOICE.
The fact that two LFC players have stated on Radio, they are delighted with him staying makes me believe he has said it.

Wenger and Co, have really got their strategy wrong this window, although it cannot be denied the talent at AFC already, they really should have pushed out the boat in this window to close the gap on CFC and the Mancs. So far Spurs seem to have added some real talent and are not finished yet, they will be a real threat with or without Bale. Staying in contention for a CL spot will be the most difficult AFC have had to face in years, and IMO they will fall short, of Spurs. I am a LFC fan by the way.
