English media outlet The Daily Star is reporting that West Ham United is keen on signing Chelsea striker Demba Ba. The report says that West Ham manager Sam Allardyce is keen on bringing the Senegalese international to Upton Park after clinching the signing of Liverpool striker Andy Carroll earlier this summer. Ba previously played for the Hammers for just six months in 2011, but left on a free transfer following the club’s relegation.

Ba was signed by Newcastle United to replace the departing Andy Carroll after the Englishman made a big money move to Liverpool, and the two could now pair up if West Ham can land the striker. The Daily Star suggests that Ba could be surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge this season if Jose Mourinho manages to reunite with former Inter Milan striker Samuel Eto’o following the Cameroonian’s comments about wanting to link up with his former manager.

There have been no indications from either Ba or Chelsea that the player is up for sale this summer, but West Ham supporters would surely relish the chance to see Stewart Downing, Andy Carroll, and Demba Ba link up in the Hammers’ attack.
