Championship side QPR are reportedly chasing Colombian striker Duvan Zapata, with his current club Estudiantes looking for a £6.4 million fee. The attacker is reported to be heading to London for a medical and to discuss medical terms with the club according to the London Evening Standard.

Estudiantes, an Argentinian club, had reportedly come to an agreement for the attacker earlier this summer with Premier League side West Ham, however the move for the striker failed after the club applied for a “special talent” work permit, but were rejected in their attempt. According to the London Evening Standard report, QPR plan to do the same, while making it a point to say that the player is likely to play for Colombia in the 2014 World Cup.

The 22-year-old striker joined Estudiantes in 2011 from Colombian side América de Cali on loan. The attacker signed with América de Cali at 17 years old, playing three seasons there, while appearing in 63 matches and scoring eight times. The attacker joined Estudiantes on loan in 2011 and the club decided to make the loan move permanent, where Zapata went on to appear in 41 matches, scoring 20 times for the club.

The attacker played for the U-20 Colombian international side in 2011, appearing in five matches for the side, and looks likely to join Colombia’s top team.
