Ashley Williams posted on Twitter his affinity for future Hall of Fame defensive player Ray Lewis and revealed his desire of speaking with the American football player. The commanding center back has been a ever steady defensive presence for Swansea since his move from Stockport in 2008 and has recently been been made skipper. Although not the same sport, Swans supporters could rejoice if the 28-year old is able to emulate a career similar to former NFL linebacker.

The central defender has never met Lewis according to the post but nevertheless is able to look at Lewis’s impressive career, leadership, and team and personal honors to see why he might want to emulate the American athlete. Lewis was blessed with longevity, playing 17 seasons in a very demanding physical sport, being twice awarded with the best defender in the league trophy and leading his team to two Super Bowl Championships.

The Baltimore Raven was the long time captain of the NFL franchise and was renowned for passionate speeches, dedication, and work on and off the field, qualities that translate to success easily in any sport.

Despite recent rumors of the Welshman moving to Arsenal this summer, Swans manager Michael Laudrup handed him the arm band to lead his side into this season’s campaign. The Liberty Stadium side is looking to improve on an impressive 2011/12 term which saw the club finish ninth in the Premier League while grabbing a Europa League spot as well.
