Lewis Holtby hosts first Hangout with fans

Spurs midfielder talks to Premiership Talk and others

By | 23rd July 2013

Tottenham Hotspur have continued their innovative and fresh approach to interacting with supporters through social media this summer, as they’ve launched their very first Google Hangout with supporters and bloggers. Midfielder Lewis Holtby made club social media history as the first ever player to host a Hangout, and as expected was his usual charismatic self as he discussed his personal goals, preseason, and the differences between the Premier League and Germany’s Bundesliga.

Tottenham’s willingness to host a fan-driven Google Hangout is yet another positive step by the club as they aim to become the Premier League’s leaders in social media outreach. The club have already been doing an incredible job of updating their Twitter and their YouTube accounts all summer, giving supporters inside access to the players as they prepare for the new season.

Premiership Talk was one of four websites invited to take part in the Hangout, and it was an extremely enjoyable and honoring experience. Lewis was an extremely cordial and articulate Hangout host, as he ensured each blogger had their questions answered with great insight from the player’s perspective.
