Premier League side Stoke City look to beat Cardiff City for Benfica striker Nelson Oliveira, according to The Mirror.  Stoke are reportedly discussing a season-long loan deal with the Portuguese giants that will send the 21-year-old to the Premier League for a season for some experience.

The 21-year-old starlet has garnered large amounts of attention from Premier League clubs this summer, including interest from North London outfit Tottenham, Premier League new-boys Cardiff City, and now Stoke City have been added to that list as well.

According to The Mirror, Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas has been keen on the 21-year-old as well, being heavily connected to the Portuguese league from his Porto days, but has faced competition from Cardiff City, who could offer Oliveira more playing time.  But now, Stoke may be the favorites after reportedly offering a £860,000 loan fee as well as to pay 100% of Oliveira’s wages.

Oliveira appeared for the Portuguese giants when he was just 17 in 2009, making 12 appearances for the club, but has since been loaned out three times: once to fellow Portuguese club Rio Ave, one time to another Portuguese club, Pacos Ferreira, and last season to Spanish outfit Deportivo, where the attacker appeared in 30 matches, scoring four times.

Oliveira could end up being sent to Stoke today according to The Mirror, but are not likely to have a permanent option included in the deal because of Benfica’s belief that Oliveira could turn into a starting eleven caliber player.
