Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard has publicly praised the qualities of Belgian colleague Christian Benteke amid the striker’s transfer saga with his current club, Aston Villa. Hazard’s club Chelsea has been linked with a move for the Villa man as Jose Mourinho looks to add to his front line, which currently consists of Demba Ba, Romelu Lukaku, and the faltering Fernando Torres.

Hazard chose to praise Benteke’s debut season in the Premier League, with the 22 year old picking up a sensational 19 goals in 34 Premier League appearances for the Villans. Without the incredible form of the striker they signed last August, the Villans likely would have been relegated from the Premier League, having finished just five points above relegated Wigan Athletic.

“Benteke is my friend, we get on very well,” Hazard was quoted as saying in The Sun.

“He had an unbelievable first season for a young striker in the Premier League.

“His dream is to play even higher and I think he’s got all the attributes to do well at a big club.”

Benteke has handed in an official transfer request to Aston Villa after just a year of playing for the club, and has been heavily linked with a move to either Tottenham or Chelsea all summer. Hazard’s presence at Stamford Bridge may be enough to influence Benteke’s situation, but no official news has come from any of the three parties (Spurs, Chelsea, and Villa).

Should Benteke move on from Villa? Where should he go? Have your say below!
