Ivorian attacker Salomon Kalou has revealed that there is interest around the Premier League from clubs looking to lure him back to England. The Lille striker previously played for Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea side, and as the Portuguese manager returns to the Prem, Kalou claims that at least one club is interested in helping him do the same.
Sky Sports is reporting that West Bromwich Albion are reportedly interested in bringing Kalou back to the Prem as they continue to find a reliable replacement for the disgruntled Peter Odemwingie. The Nigerian’s attitude has left the club without a reliable tricky, flair-based attacker, and Kalou could provide a new attacking style to the Baggies.
“There is some interest in me in England but, to be honest, I am enjoying my time at Lille as much as I can,” Kalou was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
“However, it is not just my choice.
“West Brom are a very good club, with good players. The Premier League is attractive but I have a contract here.”
The Ivorian international scored 14 times in Ligue 1 last season, marking a successful maiden season for Lille. A return to a lower Premier League side could present Kalou with far more first team opportunities than he was afforded at Chelsea, giving him ample room to impress.
