English newspaper The Sun is reporting that West Bromwich Albion are lining up a move for former Arsenal and Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka. The Frenchman is without a club following his short spell with Italian Serie A giants Juventus, and the report indicates that Steve Clarke is keen on bringing the striker back to the Premier League.

Despite his short stay, Anelka enjoyed success with Juventus during his time in Italy. “The Old Lady” picked up yet another Serie A crown, adding to Anelka’s trophy cabinet. If Anelka lands at West Bromwich Albion as The Sun suggests, it’ll be his sixth Premier League club. The former Real Madrid man has already turned out for Bolton, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester City in his career, and at 34 years of age could be looking for one last big payday.

Clarke is already familiar with the player during his time with Chelsea, where the current West Brom boss featured on the coaching staff. The club are in desperate need of a new striker, with the on-loan Romelu Lukaku heading back to Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea, and Peter Odemwingie reportedly set to finally leave the club after nearly a year of unrest at the Hawthornes.

Would Anelka cut it in the Premier League? Have your say below!

Are has beens all we can hope for……rumours of Peace bleeding the club seem believable…4th year in prem…thought money would be made available…now Peace says we should only be a championship side…..I fear for next season….we have lost most of the players we wanted because Peace is not prepared to spend any money….Steve Clarke must be getting very frustrated..I know I would….now it seems we are also losing our best youngsters….what is there positive about the baggies at the moment…oh we are not in debt…that really excites fans….we all want to be accountants and look at the bottom line…I do not think so…..starting to regret renewing my season ticket already…hope they can make me feel more optimistic with signing a couple of good strikers….not has beens looking for one last payday….come on cheer me up….give me some good news
