New Barcelona signing Neymar has publicly declared that Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney would improve the La Liga champions amid question marks over the striker’s future at Old Trafford. The Brazilian was speaking ahead of his country’s Confederations Cup final later today, and made his admiration for the English international clear.
“I have met Wayne on a few occasions and he seems a good guy but importantly, he is one of the players I admire most in the world,” Neymar told reporters, according to Sky Sports News.
“Wayne is one of the most gifted and technical players in the world.
“Of course he would improve Barcelona. He would improve any club in Europe. And on a personal level, it would be a dream to play with him.”
Neymar’s claims come during a period of unrest for Rooney at Old Trafford, as the media continues to speculate over the striker’s future. David Moyes is set to officially begin work at United tomorrow, so up to this point there has been no official communication from the club. Moyes’s first task will surely be to sit down with his star striker to discuss his future, with The Daily Star reporting that Rooney will tell the Scot that he’s willing to stay at the club.
Neymar, meanwhile, has already been unveiled at the Camp Nou, making Barcelona fans drool at the prospect of seeing Brazil’s latest superstar link up with Lionel Messi.
