Fergie praises equalizer

Ferguson praises combination of Giggs and RvP

By | 7th January 2013

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was full of praise for FA Cup saviors Ryan Giggs and Robin van Persie following the duo’s combination for the Red Devils’ late equalizer against West Ham United on Saturday.

With the Premier League leaders staring defeat in the eye at Upton Park with just minutes remaining in the match, substitutes Ryan Giggs and Robin van Persie combined for a goal that Ferguson labelled as “world-class.” With elimination from the FA Cup just moments away, Ryan Giggs picked out an inch-perfect fifty yard pass right into the path of leading goalscorer Robin van Persie, who coolly took the ball down in stride and finished past a hapless Jussi Jaaskelainen.

“When you’re 2-1 down with a couple of minutes left you just hope you get a break, but the manner of goal – the pass from Ryan Giggs and first touch from Robin van Persie and his finish – is absolutely world class, absolutely fantastic,” Ferguson said following the match, according to¬†ESPN.

The equalizer forced a third round replay between the two sides, which will be played at Old Trafford. The winner will play host to the winner of Fulham versus Blackpool.
