All eyes were firmly on new Chelsea signing Demba Ba as the Blues visited Southampton for today’s FA Cup clash. The £7 million man got a dream start to his Chelsea career, scoring two goals en route to a convincing 5-1 win for Rafa Benitez’s men.

Ba completed his transfer to Stamford Bridge just yesterday, but took Fernando Torres’s starting role in today’s match. Ba linked up well with midfielders Eden Hazard and the up-and-coming Victor Moses, and took just 35 minutes to open his scoring account with the defending Champions League winners.

It looked like it would be a rough day for Ba and the Blues early on as Southampton took a 1-0 lead through a Jay Rodriguez goal. Ba, though, equalized less than 15 minutes later, before Victor Moses’s strike on the verge of halftime opened the floodgates.

Branislav Ivanovic scored once again to extend the best goalscoring form of his life, before Ba scored his second goal with half an hour left. Frank Lampard sealed the 5-1 win for the visiting Blues in the 83rd minute with a trademark penalty.
