Video: Fulham winger wins FIFA 13 battle

Swede walks away as video game champ

By | 17th December 2012

Four Fulham players recently participated in the FIFA 13 Pro Footballer Tournament but Alex Kacaniklic was the stand-out winner in the end, convincingly defeating the trio of Mladen Petric, Neil Etheridge, and Hugo Rodallega.

Summer signings Petric and Rodallega are both talented forwards on the football pitch but when it came to scoring in their FIFA match, neither man succeeded.

A goalless draw between two Fulham sides (yes, both players decided to choose the Cottagers) led to a penalty shoot-out, in which Rodallega’s admitted struggles with taking penalties in the video game proved to be the deciding factor.

Petric proceeded to the tournament final, but as he would find out, his opponent turned out to be a far superior FIFA 13 player than him.

Kacaniklic, playing with Barcelona, put away Etheridge’s Manchester City 2-0. While the latter enjoyed the playing experience, he stated that he hadn’t played FIFA video games in a long while.

As they do in real life, Barca continued dominating their opponents, with Kacaniklic dishing out the same treatment to Petric’s Real Madrid in this simulated version of El Clasico.

The Swedish winger repeated the 2-0 triumph he previously enjoyed over Etheridge, turned towards Petric with a grin, and went on to lift his well-deserved trophy.

Petric, meanwhile, was left to joke whether Alex had been using three hands to outplay his opponents with so much ease.

All said and done, the video above clearly establishes how much fun these FIFA 13 Pro Footballer Tournaments can be for players looking for innovative methods of team bonding.

While Kacaniklic might now be eager to dribble past defenders with as much effectiveness as he does in the video game, Petric and Rodallega can try to compensate for their FIFA 13 scoring struggles by converting some on the pitch.

Etheridge, 22, is still a developing talent and bonding with three regular first-team players in such a fun environment is also poised to contribute tremendously towards his confidence as an emerging player.
