Premier League title hopefuls Manchester United and Arsenal are set to fight it out for German starlet Mario Gotze, according to English newspaper The Daily Mail. Per the newspaper, both Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger have been put on red alert after learning that the attacker has a £30 million release clause in his current contract.

The 20 year old is one of the hottest young properties in the world of football, and £30 million could represent a bargain for a player who could become one of the best attacking midfielders in the world. The German international is already a key player in the Bundesliga for giants Borussia Dortmund, and already has 20 international caps to his name.

According to The Daily Mail, Real Madrid is also among the list of suitors for Gotze, and is rumored to be a long-time target of Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

Gotze has appeared in twelve Bundesliga matches for Borussia Dortmund this season, with four league goals to his name. The midfielder got his breakthrough at the age of 17 when he filled in for the injured Shinji Kagawa, who completed a move to Manchester United this past summer.

United are known to be looking for a midfielder, and could be a perfect target for Sir Alex Ferguson as he plans for the future.
