Resurgent Tottenham have been linked with a move for £7.2 million rated Ajax center-back Toby Alderweireld. The North London club have recently raided the Dutch giants for towering defender Jan Vertonghen, and according to talkSPORT are now eyeing a move for the Belgian international.
According to the report, Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has arranged for multiple scouting trips to watch Alderweireld in Ajax’s league and Champions League matches, and with the January transfer window fast approaching he could be ready to make a move.
At only 23 years of age, Alderweireld already has 20 international caps for Belgium, and has been in the Ajax senior squad since breaking through in 2009. The center-back has won back-to-back titles with Ajax in the Dutch Eredivisie, but could follow in the footsteps of many of his former teammates as he eyes a move to a bigger league.
The report also indicated that Italian giants AC Milan are monitoring Alderweireld’s situation at the Amsterdam Arena, so Villas-Boas will be hopeful of making a quick swoop for his target.
