City strikers set for stay

Tevez and Dzeko to remain with the club

By | 15th July 2012

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini insists that two of his top strikers will remain at the Etihad Stadium, despite long rumors of unrest last season. Both Edin Dzeko and Carlos Tevez experienced on-field success with the club last season, but were linked with moves away this summer. Now, their future looks set to remain in east Manchester.

“Both Dzeko and Tévez will stay at City. We are a great team and we try to keep all our great players. It won’t be easy but they will stay here,” Mancini told Sky Sport Italia.

“We still lack a couple of players to reach [the level of] Real Madrid and Barcelona. Also our mentality has to grow season by season.”

The defending Premier League champions continue to be linked with a move for Arsenal standout Robin van Persie after the Dutchman revealed his desire to leave the Emirates.

If van Persie joins the ranks in Manchester he’d complete a dominant attacking fivesome of Sergio Aguero, Tevez, Dzeko, and Italian sensation Mario Balotelli. The five of them have proven their Premier League credentials, and City fans would surely relish seeing van Persie in sky blue.
