Liverpool ace keen on Rodgers’ plans

Suarez excited about more attacking football next season

Brendan Rodgers has revealed that Liverpool’s prospects of reaching a new long-term deal with Luis Suarez are strong due to the forward’s belief in the former Swansea manager’s football philosophy.

Rodgers became synonymous with a fearless attacking style at Swansea last season and after speaking to Suarez in recent days, the gaffer is thrilled to discover how excited the Uruguayan star is to bring that brand of football to Anfield.

“I have had a good conversation with Luis over the phone. From the outset, he has seemed a really good guy. He loves the city and the passion,” Rodgers told LiverpoolFC.tv.

The Reds boss added: “We have exchanged lots of texts. He sent me a text on the first morning, wishing me good luck. He has really bought into what we are trying to do.

“He was really excited about how we played at Swansea last year. He is really keen and looking forward to playing in a similar sort of model.

“There has been good dialogue (on a contract). I would hope going forward that we can close that out.”

While Liverpool seem to share a clear vision with Suarez, the future of his strike partner Andy Carroll remains uncertain as the England international continues to be linked with a move away from Merseyside this summer.
