Ramsey in the dark about forward's future

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has avoided commenting on skipper Robin van Persie’s tricky contract situation, insisting that he will only find out more when he leaves Team GB’s Olympics campaign to rejoin the Gunners next month.

Ramsey’s selection as a member of Team GB during the London Olympics rules him out of Arsenal’s pre-season preparations and the Welshman has made the wise choice of not getting involved in club matters while is away.

“There is no need for me to get involved in that. I don’t know and we as players don’t know what is happening so we will just have to wait to see what happens,” Ramsey was quoted by the Daily Mail.

Ramsey, 21, came under criticism for some of his own performances during the second half of the 2011-12 campaign and will now be expected to improve significantly when partnering the likes of Alex Song, Mikel Arteta, and Tomas Rosicky next season.

Van Persie, meanwhile, has been linked with a move to Manchester City and Barcelona, but it has been reported that Italian champions Juventus may be the closest to securing his services.

The Dutchman’s contract will expire next summer and despite publicly denying any strong intentions to offload him, Arsenal would be more willing to let him leave the Premier League altogether rather than allowing him to join a strong domestic rival.
