Wednesday night, the L.A. Galaxy fell to the Philadelphia Union 2-1 in front of their home crowd at the Home Depot Center. Missing from action was Galaxy star David Beckham, who was serving a one-game suspension after an accumulation of yellow cards.
Beckham used his suspension as an opportunity to invite the long-time Chelsea ace Frank Lampard to view the game from a suite at the Home Depot Center. Lampard has long been rumored to make a switch to MLS, most notably the Galaxy.
The loss dropped the Galaxy to a record of 6-10-2, which could prompt them to shake up their roster with a big-time transfer.
Lampard has enjoyed a memorable 11-year stay with Chelsea, including a victory over Bayern Munich on penalties in the Champions League final this season.
Reports are stating that the Galaxy are offering a £13million two-year deal to Lampard, who is seriously considering the offer.
Along with the security of the multi-year deal and the prospect of playing with the likes of Becks and former Everton fan favorite Landon Donovan, Lampard’s TV star-fiancee Christine Bleakley has also stated her desire to move to Hollywood and the California state.
If the two sides were to agree on a deal, the Galaxy would be forced to part ways with one of their three current DP’s; either Becks, Donovan, or Robbie Keane.
