Martin Skrtel insists that he has not been in contact with Premier League champions Manchester City despite reports linking him with a move to the Eastlands.
Skrtel, 27, has been in Merseyside since arriving from Zenit St. Petersburg during the 2007-08 season.
The Slovakia international has made a total of 164 appearances for the Reds across all competitions over the course of five seasons and has managed to score seven goals in addition to racking up four assists.
While his skill-set is certainly suitable for City’s physical yet attacking playing style, the defender has refused to get carried away as no official talks have began at all.
“In the press, there have been rumours about my future. I would like to say that so far I have not received any specific offers and I have not been in talks with any club,” Skrtel was quoted by talkSPORT in a statement he posted originally on his personal website.
It is also being reported that besides Skrtel, the Citizens will consider pursuing Newcastle United captain Fabricio Coloccini this summer.
