Reds told to pay £9m

Lyon quote a price for Aly Cissokho

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is wasting no time in rebuilding the Liverpool squad that he’s inherited from the sacked Kenny Dalglish, now setting his sights firmly on Lyon left back Aly Cissokho.

According to talkSPORT the Reds have been quoted a price of £9 million, which could be viewed as a fair and reasonable price under the current market conditions. Cissokho is widely regarded as one of the most promising French talents at the moment, and at £9 million would represent a cheaper price than Lyon bought him for in 2009.

Cissokho previously played for Portuguese giants FC Porto, and has been attracting interest from all over England this summer. If reports are true, besides Liverpool both Newcastle and Everton are also interested, especially considering the potential exit of Leighton Baines from Goodison Park.

Lyon have already indicated that they won’t be accepting a price any lower than the quoted £9 million, with Napoli also close to putting an offer in for the defender.

Cissokho would give the Reds some much needed depth at the back, trading playing time with Jose Enrique following the player’s debut season at Anfield.

Would Cissokho be a good addition to Rodgers’ Liverpool side? Have your say below!
