Reds’ Rodgers dismisses boo-boys

Young manager not worried about haters

By | 7th June 2012

New Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has sent a message to the club’s excessively skeptical fans that he won’t be trying too hard to please them as the team’s general good is obviously his main priority.

Rodgers, whose recent arrival from Swansea has been welcomed by some and questioned by others, understands the need to carefully reconstruct the Reds’ title ambitions but is adamant that he won’t seek to please everyone.

“I know there are three types of supporters at every club. Number one is those who, no matter who the manager is, they love their club and they will love their manager whoever it is because Liverpool is their life and their passion and they love their club,” Rodgers started off in an interview at LiverpoolFC.tv.

The 39-year old continued: “The second group is supporters who will accept you but to earn their real respect you will have to be successful. That’s fine.

“The third group are the critics and you never change them ever. If you win four nil it should have been five. If you win the league it should have been three.”

Asked how he would prepare to deal with the latter group, Rodgers immediately responded: “I will never worry about that group because you can never affect them. If you do a good job you are proving them wrong but they can’t be proved wrong so they will kill you even more.”

The Northern Irishman subsequently went on to accuse the boo-boys for not truly loving and supporting the club.

“I only want to work with the people who love the club. I have always had good relations with the media and with the supporters.I’m open and honest. I understand that not everybody will want me here but that’s part of the dance,” he concluded.

“accuse the boo-boys” He never mentioned boo-boys stop making stuff up Liverpool rarely boo only Lucas comes to mind when he was playing extremely bad and most Liverpool fans cringed at any Liverpool person being booed unless they really really deserved it.. Also I think Rodgers is wrong there’s maybe two, those who, no matter who the manager is, they love their club 98 % and The second group is supporters who will accept you but to earn their real respect you will have to be successful 2%

I for one support the team. And Brendan Rodgers is part of that as well as the players. I really enjoyed the way his Swansea team played- especially with what could bd regarded as an average squad. I hope the players we have can adapt to his philosophy as I agree with how footie should be played- on the deck, attacking and movement. Sometimes you do have to win ugly so I hope there are back up plans!!
