Liverpool in managerial shocker

Rodgers set to accept Liverpool role

By | 30th May 2012

In what would be the most surprising major managerial hiring decision of late, Liverpool look set to name Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers as Kenny Dalglish’s replacement at Anfield. Rodgers recently guided Swansea into the Premier League, and according to Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins a deal could be less than 24 hours away.

“We are trying to finalize within the next 24 hours,” said Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins in a statement. “Although we are very disappointed to lose such a talented, young British manager, we didn’t wish to stand in his way.”

Rodgers guided the Premier League newboys to an impressive eleventh place finish, and Jenkins stressed that he wishes the talented manager the best of success in the future.

“We wish Brendan every success in the future,” Jenkins said. “We will always remain good friends and we thank him for all his hard work and passion at this football club over the past two years. We shall now refocus and quickly start the process of finding his replacement to continue the great work Brendan has carried out at this football club.”

  1. The fact that Brendan Rodgers managed to deliver good results for Swansea during their campaign for the Premier League probably makes him a suitable replacement for Kenny Dalglish. However, since Liverpool finished in 8th place in the Premier League I think Rodgers has some big shoes to fill.
