Chelsea defender Gary Cahill is already feeling at home with his new teammates, describing the squad as an ‘entertaining’ group following the club’s short training camp in Mallorca.

The Blues returned home earlier today and after spending most of the time in Mallorca training together in the warm weather, Cahill feels that the bonding within the squad got stronger by the day.

Cahill, 26, completed his protracted transfer from Bolton earlier this month and has no problems admitting that the quality time spent together in Spain was much needed to get him accustomed to his surroundings at Chelsea ahead of many similar training sessions at Cobham.

“It’s been a mad couple of weeks for me, hasn’t it?! I came in on the Tuesday, trained for just a few days before the game at Norwich and then we came straight over on a plane to Mallorca,” Cahill remarked as the Blues squad prepared to fly back to London.

The England international added: “Training has been really good and it’s been enjoyable to get to know the lads – I know everyone a lot better now. I think the trip has definitely helped me.

“I’ve only been here just over a week, so I’ve obviously still got to get to know the lads a lot more than I do now, but it’s been great because we’ve spent most of the time together and I’ve got to know them a lot better than if I was back in England.

“There are a lot of different characters here, definitely – most of all because of all the different nationalities. That’s the one thing that’s really different here and in that sense it’s really good – there are some entertaining characters and they’re great guys.”

Cahill is expected to vacate his spot as the club’s latest signing within the next few days as a deal to bring 20-year old Belgian starlet Kevin De Bruyne to Stamford Bridge from Racing Genk is nearing conclusion.

Now we just need to add to the signing of Cahill by signing Van Der Weil and Kevin De Bruyne.
