Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is set to seal his first major signing in the January transfer window after reportedly submitting a £15 million bid for Udinese’s versatile Chilean Mauricio Isla.

Isla, 23, can play in a variety of positions up front and also in the back, offering the Reds a plethora of strengths all over the park.

Dalglish’s rant criticizing his player’s efforts following Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Bolton has stolen the headlines in recent days and the Daily Star is reporting that bringing Isla to Merseyside could be among the first of many steps he takes to mitigate the rising number of concerns.

A deal to bring FC Groningen’s 20-year old Uruguayan striker David Texeira is also being worked on after Real Madrid’s Esteban Granero was reported to have turned down a switch to Anfield from the Santiago Bernabeu.

Nevertheless, captain Steven Gerrard has rubbished suggestions that there is crisis at the club as he has strongly backed manager Kenny Dalglish to steer the club back on track, starting with tonight’s massive Carling Cup semifinal second leg at home to Premier League leaders Manchester City.

“For me, the thing that needs to change is the people who are here need to try and not put in performances like the one against Bolton and get back to the way we’ve been 95 percent of the time under Kenny, which has been very good,” Gerrard told reporters.

The Reds skipper added: “When you put in a performance like we did as a group, you expect criticism especially off your manager.

That is his job and we need to be big enough men to take it on the chin and show a reaction because performances like that, individually and collectively, aren’t good enough for this club.”

Following tonight’s match, Dalglish and Gerrard will quickly shift their focus to the FA Cup as an epic showdown awaits against Manchester United on Saturday afternoon.

bring him , bring anybody please ,
    we lack speed ,
current wingers in the club – downing
Kuyt ,Henderson, Maxi lack speed ,dribbling skillz and most important THEY NOT WINGERS.

i question a club that spends that so unwisley on players , theres seems no difference to benitez error and the daglish error, poor negotiating skills
around 20 mil for the likes of Downing ,henderson, – poor negotiating skills 35 mil for Caroll – will remain the bigges joke in PL for good couple years to come, whilst the cheapest of the buys are probally the best (charlie & Enrique)
in short – we spent unwisley on these why not unwisely on more.BAD MANAGEMENT FOR GOOD LONG TIME NOW,

We need a versatile, agile, massive & a terrific goal poacher @ Anfield. I’m so ecstatic & elated that we stunned Manchester City yesternight & Anfield went gaga. YNWA!!!

  3. Kenny says:

Noooooooooooooooooooooooo. He is a right back by nature. Will be another failure to the collection of clowns at Liverpool FC with the likes of Caroll, Downing and Handerson. We should get players that play at their natural positions. Example right wing.

ok, what a night at anfield, YNWA, it was like the old days, Both sets of fans where great, the banter between them was first class, thats how crowds should be, man city fans where top class, both sets of fans applauded the teams at the end of the game, a draw a fair result, Hart is got to be one of the best goalies in the world. He kept city in, and also Mach R played well, BUT the differance was a 32 yr old, who ran his socks off, only one sour note, how pathetic carrol looked even in the 4 mins he played, he was lucky not to get booked could hardly run, what a waste of talent, how he must feel when a 32 yr old can run rings around him, make him look usless, Dalglish dont let carrol destroy you.
