David Beckham has joined LA Galaxy owner Tim Leiweke in hoping that the invaluable Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard considers signing for LA Galaxy in the future.
Lampard, 33, has been linked to the MLS Cup winners in recent weeks but having rubbished all reports of an exit from Stamford Bridge, the midfielder looks set to continue his impressive form for the West Londoners.
Beckham reportedly had the chance to join Lampard in the Premier League but turned down any offers to return home by staying on at the Galaxy by agreeing to a fresh two-year deal on Wednesday.
The former England captain immediately set his sights on more success in Los Angeles and believes that it is certainly not unrealistic to imagine Lampard being a part of the club’s future.
“If he does decide to walk away from Chelsea, then of course what team wouldn’t want Frank Lampard?,” Beckham discussed with reporters.
He added: “The owners here (at the Galaxy) are very persuasive, so of course there is a chance.”
Leiweke admitted that signing each of the club’s three Designated Players (DPs), particularly Beckham, has involved investing heavily in terms of both resources and time but also made it clear that if Lampard is available, he will do all he can to accommodate the Chelsea talisman.
