Robert Huth is aware that walking out of Eastlands with a result tomorrow night will be a massive challenge for Stoke City as they visit Premier League leaders Manchester City.
The Potters have won all of their last four league matches while also progressing to the next stage of the Europa League.
However, when they arrive at Etihad Stadium, there is no question that they will be heavy underdogs compared to City, who have yet to lose at home this season.
Describing the difficulty of the task at hand, Huth told Stoke City’s official website: “It’s been a great few weeks for us in terms of picking up points and progressing in Europe, but we know that Wednesday night will be incredibly tough for us.”
The German added: “They are one of the best sides in the country, if not Europe, so we are under absolutely no illusions as to the size of the task in front of us because they are going so well at the moment.
“We have had a few good results though so we can take that into the game with us; but even with that we know it will be an incredibly tough evening for us. We will give it our best shot though.”
Tomorrow night’s clash between Roberto Mancini’s Citizens and Tony Pulis’ Potters is also being billed as a rematch of the FA Cup final at Wembley earlier this year and given that both teams remain in contention for Europa League, more meetings could be on the cards.
For Huth, though, playing the likes of Manchester City is more of a measuring stick of his own team’s quality rather than a revenge mission of any sort.
“It doesn’t mean anything really, that happened seven or eight months ago. They won the game fair and square and we have moved on from that,” the 27-year old explained.
“We don’t want any sort of revenge, we are just concerned about getting the results we want, for us, and not worrying about whether it impacts the other side or not,” he concluded.
While Stoke’s recent return to form has propelled them back into the first half of the table, they remain 17 points adrift of Mancini’s confident side.
