Barcelona star Xavi Hernandez has played down his side’s Champions League chances, suggesting that Manchester United are the favorites to take the trophy. The Premier League leaders will be playing on home English soil as they clash at Wembley Stadium later this month, with the Red Devils extremely familiar with the site of this year’s Champions League final.

“Manchester United are the favorites,” Xavi said of United’s chances. “They’re a great team that also likes to play football, and perhaps that’s good for us.”

His fellow teammate Pedro has echoed these claims. “I hope we can win but Manchester are also a great team,” said the scorer of Barca’s second leg goal against Real Madrid.

While United will have the backing of English surroundings on May 28th, they haven’t enjoyed much success at the new Wembley. Their last outing there was a heartbreaking and treble-ending loss against Manchester City, as their cross-town rivals ran out 1-0 winners.

Both clubs will be fighting for a league and European double, as Barca are all but confirmed as champions of La Liga for yet another year. Manchester United can all but clinch the league this Sunday when they take on Chelsea at Old Trafford.
