Wolves are on the verge of signing Dundee United striker Leigh Griffiths for a reported £150,000. It’s being reported that Griffiths is set to sign a two-and-a-half-year contract for the Molineux outfit by the end of the transfer window.
The Dundee United striker already finds himself sitting on ten league goals in the SPL this season, and Wolves are in need of a striker who could lead them out of a difficult relegation battle. Griffiths has made 56 career appearances for Dundee United and racked up 29 goals, which Wolves’ boss Mick McCarthy sees as a sure sign that he’ll adapt to the Premier League.
“Of course it’s a big step up for Leigh but he’s got a terrific goalscoring record,” McCarthy said.
“Look, with the greatest respect to Leigh, I don’t want anyone thinking we are signing a Premier League striker that is going to come in and rip it up at the moment because that is not the case.
“What we shouldn’t take our eye off is what we have always done, and that is sign players who we think might be valuable to us and be a bargain.
“We’ve done it in the past, the Wards, Foleys, Edwards, Kightlys, you can name lots and lots of them we have done shrewd deals for and they have been good and smart deals.”
Wolves need all the goals they can get for their final fifteen matches, and Leigh Griffiths is sure to provide that.

How can you even begin to consider yourself a journalist when you don’t know the difference between Dundee and United.
It still shows the “United” errors with strikethrough, and lists 56 career appearances for Dundee United.
All very well saying “duly noted” but it really beggars belief that a UK journalist doesn’t know the difference between Dundee and Dundee United.
Mistakes happen. Ironically enough, even the BBC report on the story this morning had the same error.
We make corrections with the strikethrough to indicate that yes, we made an error, but we don’t want to mislead people by making non-transparent changes. What we do is there for you to see.
I thought it was an amusing ironical joke at the expense of Merlin Mick.
PLEASE do your homework.. He plays for DUNDEE.. not United !!!! and he doesn’t play in the SPL.. he’s in League 1.
Duly noted. Cheers.
Were do you get your reports from? according to “yesterday’s” wolves web site – he has signed!!!!!!!!!! talk about being slow.
