Fergie values Liverpool target at £10m

By | 26th January 2011

Following yesterday’s sensational match between Manchester United and Blackpool, Sir Alex Ferguson was quick to praise Liverpool transfer target Charlie Adam. The Blackpool captain was behind both of his side’s first half goals against the Red Devils at Bloomfield Road as his corner kicks proved too much for the United defense.

“The first half we were battered, and we couldn’t handle Charlie Adam, his corner kicks are worth £10m,” Ferguson said.

Blackpool have been in a war of words with Liverpool over the future of their captain, with Ian Holloway accusing Kenny Dalglish’s club of “faffing about” with their low transfer bids.

Despite Adams’ best efforts, Blackpool couldn’t hold on to their 2-0 halftime lead. United were boosted by the halftime arrival of Ryan Giggs coupled with the sensational Mexican Javier Hernandez replacing Wayne Rooney in the second half.

“We changed it at half-time, brought on Ryan Giggs, started to penetrate and, in the end, ran out deserved winners,” Ferguson said following the match. “The team kept going, playing their football, penetrating, and they got their reward for that.”

It is in Sir Fungus interest to see Adams NOT moving to Liverpool. So no surprise there.
