Gallas tips Spurs for a title push  | read this item

New Tottenham signing William Gallas has suggested that White Hart Lane could be gearing up for a title push as soon as this season. Spurs impressed everyone last season as they gatecrashed the big four and managed to sneak into the Champions League qualifying rounds ahead of Manchester City and Liverpool.

Now, after making the controversial switch from Arsenal to Tottenham, Gallas says that his new club can realistically eye the title.

“Finishing fourth last season shows Spurs have improved a lot and I hope this season we are going to finish even higher, maybe even win the Premier League,” he said.

“We just have to believe in ourselves. We have got young players with great quality.

“They just have to believe in their capacity to do something and I hope we can achieve this.”

The French defender also revealed his delight at signing for Harry Redknapp’s side, praising the atmosphere at the club. He did, however, admit that it was a difficult decision after plying his trade for Arsenal.

“The atmosphere is great here. I like that and I’m just looking forward to playing as soon as possible and winning some games,” said Gallas.

“It was not an easy decision but I am here now and I will give my best.”

Gallas is a good signing for Tottenham, however he’d probably be lucky to make 10 appearances this season if he played for Man Utd, Chelsea or stayed with Arsenal. Tottenham are a club on the up and Gallas a player on his way down, he’s not the kind of signing who is going to take Harry Redknapp’s side to the next level.

Yup, but let’s wait until they beat Young Boyz…
